Champions!

On May 25th my beloved football team Liverpool beat AC Milan on penalties to win the Champions League, the world's most prestigious club competition!

What made it extra special was the way in which we won it; 0-3 down at half-time against a team that was touted as the best in the world defensively, yet Liverpool produced a courageous, passionate second-half display to fight back to 3-3 and ultimately win 3-2 in the penalty shoot-out!

Possibly the greatest final of all time, and I was 6000 miles away! d'oh!

We missed not sharing The Match with you minute by minute, although perhaps the tension would have been too great!! (Gott sei dank for mobile phones though!) But it's all on video plus the wonderful scenes in & around Anfield (the streets we dash along when we're just about on time for YNWA & kickoff)when Stevie G brought The Cup home for good!

It was going to be the perfect match, the perfect reward, what we’ve all been waiting for. What we all believed in when everyone else said Liverpool couldn’t do it. I should’ve known when I met Gerard Houllier at Heathrow the day I flew out to Japan that it was a sign. It was our time. And we weren’t disappointed! What a match, the best final of all time and we showed the whole damn world what being a Red is all about.
We are proud to be Reds and proud of our Liverpudlian roots. We are proof you can’t buy class, team sprit and passion. That’s what led us to victory on May 25th and of course the best fans in the world. Big congratulations to Rafa and the boys. Let’s bring the premiership home to Anfield. And so Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and everyone who thinks Liverpool got to the final on a fluke and even now begrudge us what’s rightfully ours – the European Cup forever. To you I say, “Champion’s League you’re having a laugh!”
